Disney Studio Technology
The Walt Disney Studios
Burbank, CA
Dear Hiring Team,
I was intrigued when I saw the position for Design Manager within your Studio Technology team as the Disney Career site.
Throughout my 15+ year career I have been building not just consumer facing platforms, but also the tools and systems that drive the production of media and content. At the L.A. Times I led the systems & platform transition as it joined the NANT family - building a new CMS/DAM and production budgeting system for traditional and broadcast content. At Food52, my team was responsible for UX iterations of our media, marketing and e-commerce systems as we launched consumer features.
My career background started as a Creative and Art Director, when I had the opportunity to take my strategic, holistic systems approach as the founding Senior Design Manager at Digital Domain leading UX/UI product launch of 360° camera technology. Building out a AR/VR platform with research engineering and production partner that served the studio and external newsrooms in an emerging form of storytelling and live events. Most recently I have returned to platform tool design, as the founding designer of a small, LA based start-up. Where we are beta-testing a multi-user KPI performance app to support COOs in healthcare.
As much as I have enjoyed working on consumer products, it’s the work on productivity and production tools that I have enjoyed the most. This comes from my background in theatre and film, where being able to apply your talents and strengths within a collaborative team process to bring stories to life is “the job.”
In managing cross functional design teams, I take a mentor-coach approach. I believe it’s my responsibility to be of service to them, ensuring the bar is always lifted with joy and enthusiasm. I develop teams that work together to align research, UX and UI into an empathy-based, high-collaborative learning environment.
Currently, I am looking to move into a full-time environment where I can continue to grow and enjoy the challenges that comes with bringing stories to life.
Looking forward to learning more about this team and the role,
Wren Bach
